Our feline fairy tale began many years ago. As far as I can remember cats have always been close to me. They have been like little goblins which spread positive energy. Hence, home full of cats means good home for me – a place full of magic, joy and peace.
The cat is exceptionally sensitive, subtle and dignified. Due to its feline independence it is unfairly perceived as a loner. However the cat is a social animal which lives in family groups of clear social hierarchy. Strong family bonds, engaging friendship, shared care of young offspring and their brave defence may be observed among cats.
The fact is that cats do not blindly conform to man, especially when they do not understand and accept of his needs and activities. However they can cooperate with man on their own terms. Those who want to make friends with cats, must respect their free will and independence, which means taking into consideration cats’ extraordinary auditory, visual and generally psychological sensitivity. Their sensitive senses are much better developed than in the case of dogs or humans, hence only highly empathic people can understand cat nature.
Actually there is a grain of truth in the saying that ’we need to grow up to adopt a cat’. But if a man wins cat’s trust and does not betray its friendship, it presents him with affection and very intimate relation which is full of trust and love. It shows its great affection by purring, seeking cuddles and rubbing against the legs every time it is close to its caretaker. A cat, being left alone by its master for a long time, suffers a lot. This proves another assumption to be false – that the cat accustoms to a place, not a human.
A cat is an equally fantastic companion of a man as a dog, but totally different. I had a chance to experience the friendship of cats when I was still a little girl. I lived in a small Greek mountain village with my parents and sister and we used to go hiking in the mountains with our four dogs and three cats. First went the dogs, then we, and behind us went the cats with their tails up. They miaowed from time to time to let us know they were there too:) I come back to those moments of my childhood with a tear in the eye and wish you all as much joy and happiness as I experienced thanks to animals.
